MELA 6213 - Young Adult Multicultural Literature

Designed to meet the needs of the graduate candidate in the selection and evaluation of young adult literature based on biological, sociocultural, psychological, and developmental characteristics, emphasizing gender-fair and multicultural resources. Examine the historical development of literary works written for and about adolescents, and introduce critical issues surrounding the use and teaching of a variety of genres of young adult literature in today’s culturally diverse schools.
